As usual the end of the year brings the announcement of the color of the year. In the beginning of December 2019 Pantone choiced the color of the year 2020. We say bye to the Living Coral and welcome Classic Blue. So how is this new blue hue?
“PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is a reassuring presence, instilling calm, confidence, and connection,” says Laurie Pressman, Vice President at the Pantone Color Institute. “While technology races ahead, often overwhelming our human ability to process everything around us, it’s only natural that we gravitate toward colors that bring a sense of peace, clarity, and even protection. Suggestive of the sky at dusk, the reassuring qualities of PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation from which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.”
This year’s color, Classic Blue, is a welcome refuge for our uncertain, often disconnected era. Blue hues, long associated with peace, calm, and the dependable daylight sky, feel solid and reliable. It is this constancy and comfort that Classic Blue offers us. A timeless and enduring blue hue, PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue is elegant in its simplicity. Easily relatable, the trusted PANTONE 19-4052 Classic Blue lends itself to relaxed interaction.
According to the psychology of colors, blue symbolizes harmony, loyalty, sympathy, peace, serenity, trust, honesty and communication. This is no coincidence if many Social Medias and many other companies use it in their logo.
When it comes to jewelry and watches, it’s a very well represented color. The whole palette of gems in the blue color is quite wide and well known. Blue diamond, sapphire, tanzanite, iolite, spinel, lapis lazuli, lazulit, indicolite, kyanite fit perfectly into this year’s tone. In addition, the creators have solutions to obtain this color by using different metals such as titanium or aluminum which offer an interesting blue spectrum. They can also use enamel or lacquer to also obtain the Classic Blue. Finally, let’s discover my selection of creations in the color of the year.
