With Shapes of Extraleganza, Piaget unveils a bold and joyful new high jewelry collection that captures the very essence of its creative spirit. As the second chapter in the trilogy launched in 2024 with Essence of Extraleganza, this collection is a vibrant return to the stylistic roots of the Maison, paying tribute to the audacity, radical design, and expressive freedom of the 1960s and 1970s.
Shapes of Extraleganza is far more than a sequel. It stands as an aesthetic manifesto where high jewelry becomes a visual language — part sculpture, part graphic design, all emotion. True to its heritage, Piaget reinterprets the effervescence of that era with 51 resolutely contemporary pieces, true miniature art objects at the crossroads of fashion, architecture, art, and watchmaking.
This collection is a celebration of motion, form, and light. The designs play with daring combinations: squares, waves, zigzags, triangles, spirals, and curves come together in dynamic, joyfully subversive compositions. You’ll recognize references to Pop Art, Op Art, and the Memphis movement, as well as nods to the psychedelic aesthetics of the 1970s. Geometric lines and optical illusions blend with sensual textures, generous volumes, and vibrant color palettes — all orchestrated with the precision of a master artisan.
Among the standout sets, Kaleidoscope Lights dazzles with its Op Art-inspired colorful mosaic, composed of rare ornamental stones like verdite, rhodochrosite, and sugilite, each one cut into curved slices and aligned with meticulous precision. The result is a rhythmic, luminous visual illusion.
Flowing Curves, another highlight, expresses a return to nature with exceptional black opals set into hammered white gold, using a new goldsmithing technique developed by Piaget. The result is a textured, almost living piece — a tribute to Yves Piaget’s passion for opals, which he famously compared to the world itself: “a myriad of tastes and colors.”
The collection also impresses with its horological dimension. Several sets feature timepieces, such as Curved Artistry, which revisits the iconic 1940s secret watch. Its diamond-paved dial is hidden beneath a translucent aquamarine cabochon in a palette of candy-like tones. In the cuff watches Joyful Twirls, waves of sapphires, garnets, and spinels shimmer at the wrist, animated by Piaget’s legendary ultra-thin movement — introduced here for the first time in a high jewelry piece.
The collection reaches its pinnacle with Endless Motion, a kinetic clock-sculpture designed with French artist Alex Palenski. Composed of suspended arms set with blue and green stones, this mobile masterpiece perfectly embodies Piaget’s philosophy: creating movement, capturing light, and transforming the moment into emotion. It is both an object of art and a technical feat — a vibrant homage to modernist design.
With this new collection, Piaget continues to chart a singular path in the world of luxury. Shapes of Extraleganza pushes beyond the boundaries of jewelry into the realm of contemporary art — proving once more that beauty can be radical and timeless, as free as it is refined.
