Paris Fashion Week Fall-Winter 2022/2023

Women’s fashion week is the most anticipated event in the fashion world and comes back twice a year. In February and September, the major brands unveil their ready-to-wear collections. This great event begins in New York, continues in London and Milan and ends in Paris. The Federation de la haute couture et de la mode organizes fashion week in Paris and facilitates relations between its various players in the sector. From February 28 to March 8, 2022, member houses and guest houses presented in the French capital their fall-winter 2022-2023 collections. Ready-to-wear collections include mass-produced clothes and accessories that are not made to measure. These collections are intended to be sold in their various points of sale six months later. So how was this last Paris Fashion Week?

After several online presentations, the return of major live shows was more than expected. Valentino presented its entire unisex fall-winter 2022-2023 collection for men and women in a new color: Pink PP. This pink shade was created in collaboration with the Pantone Institute. At Chanel, we celebrate color with the star product, tweed. The models walked in the snow during Balenciaga’s catwalk, signing a very beautiful tribute to the heroism of the Ukrainian people. Several houses have, in fact, shown their support for Ukraine throughout the event. I watched and analyzed the runway shows of ready-to-wear houses and independent designers and here is what I retained in terms of jewelry. Three jewels in particular caught my attention.

Bracelets sign their comeback in force and in XL. Worn alone or in accumulation, often with large volumes, these creations extend the garment and emphasize the wrist. Inspired by tribal jewelry like at YSL or with stones like at Chloé, these bracelets are worn on both wrists. This year forget the small thin bracelets and do not hesitate to bet everything on the big cuff.

There are things happening on neckline. At Chanel there has been an accumulation of necklaces, satoirs, and chokers in the hottest style this season. “Neck mess”: trend of wearing several necklaces at the same time continues to grow. Agnès B mix large necklace with a chain. At Dries van Notes we switch between neck mess and big solo necklace. Andrew Gn offers big plastron necklace with dog collars and cameos for a daring but very stylish look. My favorite is Chloé’s big plastron necklace with a tiger’s eye, obsidian and red jasper.

Usually the rings are less visible on the runways but this time they are worn often on almost all fingers. Balmain offers us the accumulation of several wide and flat rings in both golden and silver tones. At Givenchy, white, black or metal pearls are multiplying on the hand. The interplay of volumes punctuates the rings worn in accumulation without moderation.
