During Paris Haute Couture Week, De Beers unveils Chapter Two of its Essence of Nature High Jewellery collection, a tribute to the quiet strength and organic beauty of nature. Staying true to its creative vision, the Maison—the only high jewellery house directly connected to the source of its diamonds—honours four iconic trees from the diamond-producing regions it protects: Namibia’s acacia, Botswana’s baobab, South Africa’s jacaranda, and Canada’s maple tree. Through 29 new creations that combine masterful craftsmanship, innovative techniques, and poetic naturalism, De Beers invites us on a sensory journey to the very landscapes where its diamonds are born.
Camelthorn Resilience: the acacia, strength of the Namibian desert
A symbol of resilience, the acacia inspires sculptural designs in hand-engraved gold, mimicking the tree’s textured bark. The standout necklace, transformable in seven different ways, features rough brown and white diamonds, highlighted by polished stones that mirror the desert light. Among the highlights is a “Toi et Moi” ring, juxtaposing a rough brown diamond with a 2.25 ct pear-shaped white diamond in an organically irregular design.
Baobab Magnitude: the giant of Botswana reimagined
Known as the “Tree of Life”, the baobab inspires a bold series of voluminous jewels. Hand-carved jet wood—an impressive technical feat—meets Fancy-coloured diamonds, both rough and polished, in a striking blend of materials. A cocktail ring featuring a 2.01 ct Fancy Intense Yellow diamond stands out, alongside a transformable 3.01 ct diamond pendant that can also be worn as a brooch.
Jacaranda Bloom: romance and brilliance from South Africa
The jacaranda, a symbol of South Africa’s spring, inspires a floral, feminine, and articulated collection. Diamonds in pear, marquise, and brilliant cuts bloom into delicate moving clusters, enhanced by violet Grand Feu enamel that mirrors the flowers’ rich hues. Two exceptional stones take centre stage: a 20.10 ct D-Flawless white pear-shaped diamond and a 1.01 ct Fancy Intense Pink diamond from the Natural Works of Art collection. From brooches and transformable earrings to crown rings, this parure is a poetic celebration of renewal.
Maple Colours: the Canadian maple reimagined in precious origami
De Beers pays tribute to Canada’s iconic maple tree with four contemporary creations, fusing geometry and flexibility. Stylised maple leaves crafted in origami form blend white, yellow, and rose gold with Fancy orange, yellow, and brown diamonds. Multiple expert settings elevate the contrast between polished metal and natural sparkle, capturing the changing seasons and modern spirit of Canada.
A Poetic and Purpose-Driven Manifesto
Beyond aesthetics, Essence of Nature embodies De Beers’ ethical commitment through its “Building Forever” mission—supporting communities, protecting biodiversity, and preserving the lands where its diamonds are discovered.
With this second chapter, De Beers delivers a collection that is bold yet timeless, true to its identity born from the contrast between the pristine brilliance of diamonds and the rugged beauty of the wild.
