In partnership with CIBJO and Poli.Design – Politecnico di Milano, Kering has unveiled an ambitious new initiative: the Kering Generation Award X Jewelry. This prize, aimed at promoting sustainable innovation, expands for the first time into the world of jewelry, marking a pioneering step in Kering’s commitment to a more ethical and environmentally conscious industry.
A Vision for Sustainable Jewelry
Through this program, Kering seeks to inspire a new generation of jewelry designers. In collaboration with its prestigious maisons – Boucheron, Pomellato, and Qeelin – and under the scientific coordination of Poli.Design, this prize targets students and startups from around the globe.
The competition will involve 10 renowned universities and forward-thinking startups, showcasing innovative practices and design excellence that contribute to a more sustainable jewelry industry.
2025 Theme: Second Chance, First Choice
For its inaugural edition, participants are challenged to reimagine waste as a valuable resource. The goal is to create jewelry that transforms recycled materials into exceptional pieces, highlighting the boundless potential of creativity to redefine the value of discarded objects.
Whether students guided by their professors or innovative startups, participants will submit projects to be evaluated by an expert jury. Four finalists (two per category) will have the opportunity to showcase their creations at the JCK Show in Las Vegas in June 2025, one of the industry’s most prestigious events.
An Initiative Shaping the Future
“This prize embodies the values of innovation and sustainability essential to aligning aesthetics with ethics. It is a collaborative platform celebrating creativity and sustainable development,” said Professor Alba Cappellieri, Director of Jewelry at Politecnico di Milano.
Marie-Claire Daveu, Kering’s Chief Sustainability and Institutional Affairs Officer, emphasized the significance of this initiative:
“The Kering Generation Award X Jewelry marks a pivotal moment in our commitment to a more sustainable jewelry industry. It brings together universities, startups, and future leaders to imagine a future where craftsmanship, technology, and environmental consciousness harmonize.”
