Back to IJS October 2024

The 56th edition of the Istanbul Jewelry Show (IJS) was an unforgettable experience that left me both inspired and in awe. Stepping into the Istanbul Expo Center, I could instantly feel the pulse of the global jewelry industry – a vibrant mix of tradition, innovation, and pure brilliance. With over 1,000 brands and companies from 14 countries, showcasing their finest creations, it was a treasure trove of exquisite designs and groundbreaking technologies. The fair wasn’t just a showcase; it was a journey through the future of jewelry. Let’s dive into the highlights of this unforgettable edition!

One of the most remarkable aspects of this edition was its global reach. Of the 20,831 buyers who attended, 34% came from outside Turkey, representing a diverse range of 134 countries. Countries such as Iran, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, India, Russia, the United States, and Germany sent significant delegations, highlighting the show’s international significance. With Istanbul perfectly positioned between Europe and Asia, IJS serves as a crucial hub for the global jewelry market, bridging East and West.

This global attendance demonstrated not only the resilience of the jewelry industry but also the enduring appeal of IJS. Despite political tensions in neighboring regions, the fair provided an invaluable platform for international trade, fostering relationships that are sure to shape the future of the industry. IJS has always been known for the variety and quality of its exhibitors, and this edition did not disappoint. The latest collections were displayed, giving buyers a preview of what’s to come in 2025. Many exhibitors used the platform to introduce their newest designs, catering to both traditional and contemporary tastes.

The IJS Tech section was a standout feature of the show, highlighting the machinery, tools, equipment, and technologies shaping the future of jewelry production. This area offered insights into the latest innovations in packaging solutions and security equipment, all of which are vital for the jewelry industry’s evolution.

One of the key highlights of the show was the WGSN Trend Seminar. Known as the world’s leading trend-forecasting company, WGSN presented their specially prepared report on jewelry trends for 2025, offering a deep dive into sustainable materials, key colors, and design codes that will define the future of jewelry. Erdinç Karataş, WGSN Turkey Middle East Sales Manager, emphasized the importance of adapting to new consumer priorities in a rapidly changing world, discussing how these shifts are reshaping the future of jewelry design.

Beyond the stunning displays, the show created magical moments, such as the “Art for Jewellery – Visual Feast”, a special evening hosted in the historic Şerefiye Cistern. Organized for foreign influencers and buyers with support from the Jewellery Exporters’ Association and the Turquality program, the event was described as “a night like a fairytale,” blending history, art, and jewelry in a breathtaking visual celebration.

In the Designer Club, master jewelers exhibited their latest collections, giving attendees a glimpse into the craftsmanship and skill that defines the jewelry industry. This special section was a hit among visitors, offering an up-close view of exceptional artistry. One of my must-see stops in this section of IJS is at the booth of BS Art Concept. This Istanbul-based artist creates jewels that are not only inspired by art and poetry but also by religion and nature. This time, they introduced me to their stunning new pendant collection, featuring intricate enamel work in various styles. With their mastery of old techniques like engraving and enamel combined with colored gemstones, BS Art Concept continues to produce breathtaking pieces of art.

The 56th edition of the Istanbul Jewelry Show was a resounding success, solidifying its place as a premier event for jewelry professionals worldwide. With preparations already underway for the 57th edition, which will be held from April 16-19, 2025, excitement is building for what’s next. As stated by IJS Founding Partner, Şermin Cengiz, “IJS not only provides added value to industrial trade but also plays a significant role in shaping the future of the global jewelry industry.”

For those who missed this edition, mark your calendars for the 2025 event, where even more exhibitors, buyers, and trendsetters are expected to participate. IJS will be back at Istanbul Expo Center so see you there in 2025!
