From 20th to 24th January 2023, the international gold and jewellery show, VicenzaOro took place at Vicenza Expo Centre. It was the biggest edition in 70 years. Brands from 36 countries, 400 foreign hosted buyers and international press, the whole community was in VicenzaOro to discover more. So let’s see how it was VOJ23.
Vicenzaoro January 2023 was a record-breaking edition with new products and trends along with information, education, and networking to meet the needs of a community that has made Vicenzaoro its reference point. This edition brought together 1,300 exhibiting brands, doubled foreign buyers by +105% compared to the winter edition of 2022, and closed the edition with a visitation of +11.5% compared to 2020. To be more precise, foreign attendance saw Europe at 54.5%, followed by the Middle East (9.5%), Asia (9%), Turkey (9%), North America (7.2%), Africa (5.4%) and Latin America (4.7%). Among the most represented countries are the United States and Turkey, from Europe Greece, Germany, Spain, UK and France, from the Middle East UAE, Israel and Saudi Arabia, from Asia India, Japan and Thailand.
VO Vintage, the vintage watch and jewellery event open to the public with 35 of the best dealers, consolidated its success and attracted collectors, experts and watch lovers from Italy and around the world.
Vicenzaoro January presented the market with the 50 exhibitors in the new TIME community for professional operators, specifically dedicated to the contemporary watch and its entire supply chain, including polishing machinery.
T.GOLD, the main international innovation showcase, with the most advanced jewellery machinery and the latest processes applied to gold and jewellery, saw a 10% increase in exhibition space. «Responsibility» and «3D printing with precious metals» were the two key concepts of the Jewellery Technology Forum held on the third day of Vicenzaoro January 2023.

DREAMSCAPES : Between Reality and Fiction pushing the boundaries of the Jewellery Sector was the event organized by Trendvision Jewellery + Forecasting. Paola De Luca from Trendvision, IEG’s independent observatory, grasped and anticipated the new trends for the jewellery community that will set the standard from here on in. The future of jewellery is between metamorphic materials and digital art. This very interesting event was also attended by Bella Neyman & JB Jones, co-founders of New York City Jewelry Week, Barbara Brocchi, art director and illustrator at IED ROME, Chinese designer Wallis Hong and Ferdi Alici , founder of the OUCHH studio.
The blurred boundaries between haute couture and jewellery were the focus of the meeting organised by Assogemme with special guest Dominique Dufermont , Stone Service Manager at Dior Joaillerie. «The boundaries between jewellery and fashion are becoming vaguer every day, » he said. «Jewellery used to be slow and fashion, by nature, fast. Nowadays, “fast jewellery” is one of the pillars of the market just like “slow couture”, which seems to be a strong trend in the long run that meets the imperative of sustainability. »
With the talk “Sustainability through successful succession”, CIBJO, the international jewellery confederation, turned the spotlight on the topic of generational transition in small and medium-sized enterprises and iconic brands.
Africa – Italy private sector collaboration towards mineral development resources and empowering women in value addition of gem stones and jewellery manufacturing was the event organized by Italian Exhibition Group S.p.A. in collaboration with BPW International Africa Business Council.
I was invited to take over the Vicenzaro’s Instagram and show the best from Essence: diamonds, gems, corals and pearls in hall 3. This district groups together companies specialized in the art of processing gemstones and diamonds and devoted to the ethical trading of gemstones. There was also one area dedicated to non-precious components with innovative materials and second dedicated to lab-grown diamonds.
