The world of jewelry had an appointment early September in northern Italy. The leading international B2B tradefair in Europe, VicenzaOro took place from 9 to 13 September in Vicenza. Jewelery brands, buyers, stone dealers, associations, the international press and influencers were all there as the VO slogan “All at Once” says. So here is what I noticed from this edition of VO September.
This edition exceeded pre-pandemic results. The number of visitors was up 10%. International visitors increased by 20%. More than half of the attendance was international from 124 countries around the world. Spain, France and Germany are in the lead but non-European countries were also represented. The United States, Turkey, Israel, the United Arab Emirates, India, Mexico, Colombia and even Brazil were also at VicenzaOro.
Asian district returned to VO with a strong presence. More than 30 top-notch jewelry brands and stone dealers came from Hong Kong and Thailand.
The third edition of VO Vintage took place from September 9 to 11. This show dedicated to vintage watches and jewelry is open to the public and was once again a success. Vintage enthusiasts were able to meet the best dealers and experts in the field.
The seminars and discussions were very rich. CIBJO organized two seminars on the theme of marketing in the diamond industry and regulation in the supply chain. There was also a discussion about the Metaverse revolution in the jewelry market. Paola de Luca unveiled the new Trendbook 2004+ with trends such as genre fluidity, geometric shapes or storytelling.
Annamaria Cammilli presented her new collection in different gold alloys. Its iconic models have been enriched with colored stones such as tourmalines or tanzanites. Sometimes with a touch of diamonds, these colorful novelties immediately caught the eyes of visitors and press.
Paolo Piovan Gioielli brand unveiled their new pieces with colored gems in generous cuts. The bracelet with heart-shaped gems or the floral rings are one of my favorites of this edition of VO.
I discovered the creations of the Italian brand Maria e Luisa. The silver work is done by hand by talented silversmiths. With beautiful colored stones in XL size, Maria Luisa signs sublime and remarkable jewelry.
At Fabergé I spotted the magnificent Complicated Peacock watch with its dial in the shape and colors of a peacock. The London house also unveiled new versions of the famous egg-shaped pendant.
I loved the collaboration between Wolf and Bea Bongiasca. The cases, jewelry boxes and even a chest were made in the colors and shapes of the Italian designer.
VO will return next year and the international community has already made an appointment in Vincenza from January 20 to 24, 2023.
