Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair February 2025

Stepping into the 71st edition of the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair felt like a homecoming to a world of brilliance and creativity. From 22–26 February 2025, QSNCC in Bangkok transformed into a glittering stage where the finest gems and exquisite craftsmanship took center stage. Organized by the Department of International Trade Promotion (DITP) and The Gem and Jewelry Institute of Thailand (GIT), this highly anticipated event brought together 16 key public and private sector partners to showcase Thailand’s leadership in the global jewelry industry. As the global capital of colored gemstones, Bangkok once again welcomed industry leaders, designers, and collectors for an unforgettable showcase of brilliance. I was beyond thrilled to return to this vibrant city and witness firsthand how the 71st edition of this tradeshow illuminated the world of gemstones and jewelry. Let’s dive into the highlights that made it truly exceptional!

Bangkok Gems is the ultimate destination for the gemstone industry, whether you’re a visitor or an exhibitor. To meet the overwhelming demand this year, the exhibition space was expanded by an additional 100 booths, making the 71st edition grander than ever. Hosting over 1,100 leading exhibitors from Thailand and beyond, the fair featured more than 2,600 booths showcasing an exceptional selection of diamonds, colored gemstones, gold, silver, and fine jewelry—a unique opportunity for those seeking unique, high-quality pieces.

The fair continues to draw a growing number of visitors from Europe, particularly France. I had the pleasure of meeting some of the most influential French gem dealers who regularly source their gemstones in Bangkok. Adding to the excitement, students from the Lyon campus of the National Institute of Gemology attended on the first day, eager to explore the vast array of precious gemstones firsthand.

As one of the world’s top four gem and jewelry trade fairs, Bangkok Gems remains a key meeting point for industry leaders, wholesalers, and designers. Buyers can connect directly with suppliers, negotiate deals, and uncover the latest trends shaping the global jewelry market—making it an essential event for anyone in the industry. The fair provides a chance to explore premium Thai artistry, learn from expert-led seminars, and gain insights into the latest innovations in gem cutting, setting, and design. Thailand’s growing influence in the sector is evident, with a 10.99% rise in gem and jewelry exports in 2024, reaching $9.6 billion USD. Thailand now ranks among the world’s top exporters of silver jewelry and colored gemstones, cementing its status as a key global trading hub.

On the first day, I had the pleasure of attending the exclusive networking reception, a truly unforgettable moment. The warm hospitality, exquisite cuisine, and dazzling fashion show featuring breathtaking jewels set the perfect atmosphere. It was an evening filled with inspiring conversations, reconnecting with industry leaders, and meeting new faces from around the world—all united by a shared passion for gems and jewelry.

One of my must-visit stops at the Bangkok Gems & Jewelry Fair is the New Faces zone. It’s always so interesting and refreshing to spotlight emerging designers and brands. This time, two brands particularly caught my attention for their innovative use of recycled materials, contributing to the circular concept of upcycling. Nadh Bangkok transforms iridescent beetle wings into stunning jewelry, while G’ Craftroom creates colorful bracelets and rings from naturally dyed mother-of-pearl.

The highlight of this edition of Bangkok Gems was undoubtedly the special exhibition, AMOUR ÉTERNEL HAUTE JOAILLERIE. My French heart melted upon witnessing the deep appreciation for the French language and haute joaillerie from Thai royalty. Designed by Her Royal Highness Princess Sirivannavari Nariratana Rajakanya, this extraordinary collection draws inspiration from the timeless essence of love, blending heritage with contemporary elegance. Officially unveiled in December 2024 in a spectacular presentation at the historic Bang Pa-In Palace, this extraordinary collection of 62 one-of-a-kind and limited-edition pieces bridges couture and jewelry and serves as a poetic tribute to romance, passion, and devotion.

As the fourth chapter in SIRIVANNAVARI’s jewelry odyssey, this collection extends the vision of the 2023 collection, Heirlooms of Elegance, and continues the narrative of eternal beauty and transformation. Each masterpiece is an ode to Thailand’s rich heritage in jewelry making, showcasing rare savoir-faire, including intaglio gem carving, fancy-cut techniques, green wax casting, and intricate openwork structures. These elements are meticulously woven into designs that honor Thai local flowers and the brand’s signature motifs, such as the horseshoe, star, and horsebit—symbols of luck, hope, and equestrian passion.

Crafted by Thailand’s finest artisans from Beauty Gems, these masterpieces showcase exquisite gemstones, intricate color gradients, and sophisticated craftsmanship. Now, every visitor at Bangkok Gems has the unique opportunity to admire these exceptional works of art—a true testament to Thailand’s legacy in haute joaillerie and its place on the global stage.
