Istanbul Jewelry Show

The 52nd edition of Istanbul Jewery Show took place from October 6 to 9, 2022. It is a trade show that takes place twice a year at the Istanbul Expo Center. Last month and for the first time, I traveled to Turkey to visit the most important fair in this region. Today I want to take you back on this Turkish discovery.

This trade fair is organized by Informa Markets and the latest edition was sponsored by Elmas Kule. Founded in 1986, IJS is supported by the Turkish government and Minister of Commerce as well as local and national professional associations in the jewelry sector. For the October edition there were 1000 exhibitors from 12 countries. Jewelry brands, diamond specialists, stone dealers, manufacturing workshops, but also manufacturers of machinery and equipment for the jewelry sector, exhibited their novelties in the four halls to the south of Istanbul. Compared to the October 2021 edition, there was a 13% increase in attendance. The number of visiting countries is also increasing and 38% of visitors were foreign buyers from 143 countries. Visitors from South America, Asia, North Africa and the Middle East were the most numerous. According to Sermin Cengiz, Fouding Partner of IJS, the number of exhibitors should continue to grow. This year during the two editions in March and October, the show welcomed 63,000 visitors.

The “Art for Jewelery – Inspiration Hub” event was organized in collaboration with the Jewelery Exporters Association of Turkey, Istanbul Jewelers Chamber of Commerce and Informa Markets. Adopting the vision of sustainability, many environmentally conscious actions were carried out during Istanbul Jewelry Show. In order to reduce carbon emissions, several green actions have been implemented such as reducing paper, recycling badges and exhibition mats or saving electricity by using LED technology. The show is very well served by public transport for visitors, which also helps to minimize CO2 emissions.
